Last Wednesday evening Rob, Pete and I swam at 5:30. The water was 56, very clear with none of the mud that was evident off of Shell Beach during the day, and kind'a choppy under a dieing wind. We swan the left side of the triangle route; out along the pier, to the last buoy on the left and back to the pier. Rob, Kris and I stayed for dinner.
On Sunday the 18th the water was 55, clear and flat. No real surf but some occasional large swells. I swam the whole triangle, Sylvia and Bobby swam the buoy line. Bobby is new to the area, lives in Grover Beach and is doing the Escape From Alcatraz tri in a few weeks. Welcome and hope to see more of you!

Rob is at a meet and with the wind out of the south and gusting to over 30mph today would be more of a true open water swim than I will tackle alone.
We will swim Wednesday evening at 5:30.

Wow, it was very crowded at the beach, even at 5 PM, with people enjoying spring break and the warm sunny weather. The water was 53.5 and choppy, with a steady breeze from right to left. It was not strong enough to push up any whitecaps but each leg would have it's own character. Rob and I swam the triangle route in the clockwise direction, making the longest leg straight into the chop. It took us 35 minutes and was a great workout, with the surface conditions adding to the effort by bending your body every which way depending on our orientation to the chop.
